Last Friday, May 6, 2022, our own Lina Balciunas Cockrell spoke at the 2022 Public Sector Conference in San Francisco sponsored by the Labor and Employment Law Section of the California Lawyers Association. Her panel's topic was Demystifying PERS: An Overview of the Litigation Process and Pitfalls. Lina, who has appeared before CalPERS (California Public Employees’ Retirement System) many times, and has secured positive outcomes for the individuals she represented, was a solid addition to the panel. The discussion provided an overview of the determination and administrative appeal process for CalPERS disputes from the panelists’ perspectives representing both CalPERS and employee members, in addition to retired annuitant issues, employment contracts, and retirement considerations for employment litigation settlements.

The panel was well received. Lina appreciated being invited and very much enjoyed the experience.
