Eric H. Hintz, Of Counsel
Eric is a criminal defense attorney in Sacramento with more than 35 years of legal experience and extensive experience representing peace officers and other public safety employees. He joined MAJ as Of Counsel in 2023 contributing his specialty to the MAJ family. Eric represents clients throughout Northern California in their criminal defense matters in areas ranging from homicide, to excessive force, white collar crimes, DUIs, and domestic violence. Working together with the Labor team at MAJ, Eric understands that criminal matters, especially those involving public safety employees, can have a significant impact on employment – even after charges are dismissed or an acquittal is obtained. Eric and MAJ believe in looking at the “big picture” so we can get our clients home – and back to work.
A lifelong resident of the Sacramento area, Eric received his undergraduate degree in Economics in 1982 from the University of California at Davis and his law degree from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law. Upon graduating from law school in 1985, Eric returned to Sacramento where along with his wife Ronda, he has raised his family consisting of four boys. Three of those boys are now married with children of their own. One of those sons, Brandon, has joined him in the practice of law.
Eric has always been active in his community and his church. He is an ordained deacon in the catholic church. He is also an avid recreational athlete with interests that range from surfing to water and snow skiing to weightlifting, swimming and MMA. Over the years he has also coached youth sports including football, basketball, baseball and soccer.
Eric remains committed to a personal hands-on approach to practicing law; new business comes almost exclusively via referrals from satisfied clients or other attorneys.
