James A. Shore

James Shore specializes in criminal defense and civil litigation as well as complex administrative matters.

A significant aspect of Jim’s practice is the representation of first responders. In addition, Jim uses his decades-long legal experience to counsel clients about business disputes, personal and cyber security, and employment matters.

Jim served as Deputy District Attorney in Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties for 20 years, during which time he litigated hundreds of cases and tried more than 50 jury trials including allegations of homicide, child molestation, adult sexual assault, and fraud. He received commendations from the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors, the San Jose City Council, and the San Jose Police Department, as well as the California District Attorneys Association, for his work as a prosecutor.

Jim served as president of the Santa Clara County Government Attorneys Association where his leadership during negotiations resulted in Santa Clara County prosecutors being the best compensated in the United States.

Jim has also led a variety of public safety and legislative initiatives. As president of the California Prosecutors Association, he championed successful statewide legislative campaigns. He was a gubernatorial appointee to the State of California’s Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Commission and served under both Governors Schwarzenegger and Davis. He was also an appointee of former California Attorney General Bill Lockyer to the California Task Force on Home Security for Public Safety Officials.

Jim served as chair of the City of San Jose’s Historical Landmark’s commission and vice-chair of the City of San Jose's Public Safety Bond Citizens Oversight Committee for the $159 million Public Safety Bond Fund. In addition to coaching youth soccer, basketball and baseball, Jim is focused on protecting our youth and helping to inspire children away from the temptation of drugs and crime by serving as a board member of the San Jose Police Activities League, a board member of the After School All-Stars, the founding President of the Walden West Outdoor School Foundation, and President of the San Jose Medical Center Foundation.
